Which past era would you like to live in and why?

I would love living in the 60’s of the 20th century.

It would be absolutely amazing to have an opportunity to hear the legends like the Beatles, Bob Dylan or Elvis Presley in live concerts, when they were in the top years of theirs carriers. Besides, in my opinion music was better in the past.  Nowadays, most new songs sounds literally the same.

On the other hand, I think people were more communicative. I believe that the lack of technology, which we have today, was the main reason for that. Because they didn’t have social media, they were mostly communicating face-to-face. I’m not questioning the advantages of the Internet, but I see the enormous flaw – people feel extremely lonely now.

         Moreover, colorful dresses, hippie fashion and crazy clothes patterns were         breakthrough in fashion in 1960 and i love that! All in all, if I had a time machine, I would definitely move to the 60s!

    Julia, I really liked the arguments justifying your opinion and the photos you posted. I have only two remarks, though. 1.Remember that a paragraph shouldn't be divided into subparagraphs.Topic sentence, supporting sentences and concluding sentence should be in one paragraph. 2.There is no need to provide counter arguments. Look at our notes on Messenger 6th April about paragraph writing.

  Adverts surround us almost everywhere: we see them while scrolling through social media; watching the TV; checking e-mails and moreover even outside home during a family walk, banners and billboards show up and seduce us to purchase various products or services. Most of the time customers are not aware of the fact they are being manipulated. Advertisers use psychology methods to influence on a client. They do not only store data about customers’ preferences and personal information but they place kids and pets in ads because they are perceived as innocent and we are emotionally bond to them, they mislead us by using asterisks (for various notifications and warnings in small, barely readable fonts) and wordplay and they even hire actors to play fake doctors and specialists. FRIDA KAHLO

Frida Kahlo was a Mexican painter and a feminist of German, Indian and Spanish descent.   In the nutshell, her art consists of vibrant colors, of Mexican, European surrealism and realism elements and imagery. She mostly painted self-portraits perfectly expressing her misery through the canvas.  She had been suffering from persistent pain all her life. As a child she had polio (therefore, as an adult she was wearing long skirts to cover the disproportion between her right and left leg) and then, at age 18, she was injured in the bus accident. Her pelvis was pierced by a metal bar. She undergone around 30 surgeries. Long rehabilitation and recovery process caused her interest in arts.  Frida’s image is associated with flowered hairstyles; long, colorful traditional Tehuana skirts and a unibrow.   She had a complicated relationship with Diego Rivera, with whom she was married to and pregnant but unfortunately, she miscarried twice. Ancient Egyptian civilization

  The strict hierarchy in ancient Egypt was clearly visible. The social status was very important and one’s life depended on it. One of the examples is slaves who had to work hard in exchange for a shelter and food. Farmers had to hand their harvest, meat and other produces to tax collectors. The leader’s life was the most pleasant and comfortable since they had servants and their daily routine was based on naps and organizing banquets. They even did not have to walk by foot because they were carried by slaves.   The ancient Egyptians worshiped many gods and they honored them by praying and offering gifts. The most popular were Ra - the god of the midday sun  who was travelling on “solar barge” providing Sun ,  Khepri - the god of the morning sun represented as a beetle. Isis - the patron of families, Orisis – the god of the death and rebirth. They practiced mummification because they believed that it was the way to the infinitive life.
