What is the best piece of advice another person gave to you?
I think the best advice I was given to was to always put yourself in other person’s shoes before judging somebody. It’s as easy as pie to judge and people are doing it continuously. I always try to look from a different perspective and I ask myself few questions – maybe I don’t know something about this person? Maybe they had motives, reasons to act like they did? What emotions accompanied them? When you attempt to actually understand others and the way they behaving and reacting it is more likely that you will judge them with empathy and unbiasedly and as well you will learn compassion. But there’s one catch – don’t forget that everybody is different and everybody has privilege to experience something according to their sensitivity and perception of whole situation. All in all – just wear those shoes and ask yourself a question – how I feel?
Bravo Julia, it was really interesting. It is tough indeed to put oneself in other peoples' position. So if you at least try to do it , it will benefit everyone. If everybody did that, our world would be a greater place to live in.
